Player Profiles Poker players are a diverse group who come from all over the world, and from very different backgrounds. You never know who will be in your online casino or poker game!
Joe Beevers: Born in London in 1967, Joe is considered one of Europe’s best poker players. His card career started when he and his father played blackjack together in London casinos. They became so skilled at winning, that the two were finally banned. The next logical step for Joe was to take on big stakes poker tournaments, including the World Series of Poker held in Las Vegas and the World Poker Tour. With an Honors Degree in Finance and Accounting, Joe excels at analyzing odds, and trapping his opponents.
Miami John Cernuto: A former air traffic controller at Miami airport, Cernuto moved to Las Vegas with the intent to play poker full time. He is a meticulous player who won his first major tournament in 1988; and has since accumulated three World Series of Poker bracelets.
Doyle Brunson: Probably the best known poker player in the world, often referred to as “The Godfather of Poker,” Brunson won two back-to-back WSOPs, and has ten bracelets. He was professional athlete in his youth, but an injury ended that career. His competitive instincts propelled him to be an incredibly shrewd poker player. He wrote “Super Systems” which is considered the Bible of poker. Brunson himself has says he regrets writing it because now there are so many players on the circuit who studied his techniques. There is a Texas Hold ‘Em poker hand named after him – starting cards of 2-10 – with which he won the WSOP.
