Honor cords are tokens that are made up of twisted cords with tassels on both ends presented for various non-academic and academic achievements as well as to members of honor societies. The cords usually come in pairs and have knots in the middle that holds them together and prevents them from falling apart. Students wear them during academic ceremonies and events. Student may wear more than one cord at a time.
Such people may be relatives, parents, or mentors who helped provide financial assistance or words of encouragement to the graduate during former years of study. Once the graduation ceremony is over, the graduate removes the cord from the neck and lays it on the recipient’s neck.

The student’s may wear the honor cords or carry them to dinner and special events. They may be placed on the neck with encouraging words adorned on them. One may customize the cords to include words of appreciation. This makes them special to the person who will be presented with them immediately after the graduation ceremony.
