It is no secret that several areas in the UK suffer from extremely low broadband speeds. The government as part of the Digital Britain agenda is planning to take several steps to improve the broadband services in the country, as well as make basic internet services available in rural areas. A new site now shows the true extent of the problem in an innovative and simple way.

As a joint venture of Point Topic and Gavurin, the geographical representation website provides location wise information on broadband adoption levels as well as speeds. All the information can be accessed easily by just entering your email id.

The data on the UK broadband Speeds in 2009 has been divided into three categories. “High Speed Heaven” is those areas that have high-speed broadband services of more than 8MB. The second category is “Average Access”, which includes areas that have broadband speeds ranging from 2MB to 8MB, and the third category is “Slowband Land“, which lists areas with broadband speeds less than 2MB.

According to the data, Wales and Northern Ireland come near the bottom, with lower than average broadband speed. London, however, has 93% of its connections coming under the category of “High Speed Heaven”.

Chief Executive of Point Topic, Oliver Johnson, says that this new broadband geographical data service will help the clients access information published on the website over the last few years. It would also help them find out about the new developments in their area as the recent upgrade initiatives pick up speed.
